Snow day!!

Image
“The  first fall of snow  is not only an event, it is a  magical  event. You go to bed in one kind of a world and wake up in another quite different, and  if  this is not enchantment then where is it to be found?” -JB Priestley I always LOVED this quote! Snow day!! 12/3/19 We woke up this morning to a sheet of white covering the world around us. Happy little children waking from their beds running to look out the windows in amazement. Finding a winter wonderland. Excited because school was canceled. We ate breakfast and then I answered all the little questions of "can we go outside?" We had snowball fights, made snow angels, went sledding and even made snow ice cream! We then bundled up on the couch to eat lunch and thaw out. Just wishing for a fireplace (someday). We made hot cocoa and sugar cookies. Then cleaned, organized and purged unwanted toys and clothing to get ready for the new. New things, new year. Less things, new year. ...

When life gives you snow.....you make ice cream!!

When life gives you snow- well.....you make (kid approved) ice cream!!! I believe that at least once in your life you have to make ice cream from snow. All you need is 5 simple ingredients that you probably have at home right now!       -1/2 cup Milk         -1/3 cup Sugar                      -1 tsp Vanilla extract           -A pinch of Salt                        -8 cups of clean Snow Mix 1/2 cup of any kind of milk in a big bowl with 1/3 of sugar- I used powder, but granulated is fine too. Add in 1 tsp of vanilla extract and 1 pint of salt. Whisk those ingredients together then add in 8 cups of snow and stir it up (make sure it's still fluffy and not runny) and enjoy! You can also add sprinkles or chocolate/ coffee/ strawberry syrup if you want! Now next time it snows you'll have ...

Welcoming December

Image
And November was over, just like that.  December definitely came in with a big BANG. The first day of December ended with the skies opening up and snow flakes falling softly to the ground and covering everything in between and below. 23 days of magic is ahead and this is just the beginning. December is going to be such a busy month. BUT I'm so excited to see where it takes us! And I'm hoping to find some time to slow down and cuddle up and spend time with the ones I love. Watch Christmas movies, drink cocoa and read books. December. The month we met. <3 December. The month our middle child was born. December. Christmas magic. Celebrating Jesus' birth. The ending of another year. December. What a gift we get to be given. Holidays  By Henry Wadsworth Longfellow  The holiest of all holidays are those Kept by ourselves in silence and apart; The secret anniversaries of the heart, When the full river of feeling overflows;-- The happy ...

The day after Thanksgiving

Image
What a perfect day after Thanksgiving! We were just missing dad who had gone duck hunting then to work for the day. We woke up and Cuddles our elf on the self had arrived and left a present of a Lego advent calendar. Hopefully we will have some good boys and girl since a little elf is just around the corner watching their every move and reporting back to Santa. Then after breakfast we bundled up and went down to the beach and had a blast. We took a nice walk and collected some treasures. Addy found the biggest clam shell! It was a good morning. Then we had dentist appointments and later that night we went downtown for the arrival of Santa on the firetruck. So much Christmas magic, lights and glitter in the air.

Thankful

I woke up yesterday morning with a little man in my bed, with his arm thrown a cross my neck and his face buried into me, happy he didn't have school and we discussed our favorite dinosaurs and what we were thankful for. He is thankful for LOVE. Ben was out duck hunting. I smoked some green beans with bacon. He came home and made mashed potatoes and rotisserie duck. Then we went to celebrate all we are thankful for with the ones we are thankful for, not just today, but everyday. We ate-A LOT, drank wine, played games and ate more- can’t forget dessert! We went to bed with full bellies, full hearts and full eyes waiting for Cuddles the elf to show up and begin the Christmas cheer!
