Ebb and Flow

It’s been so stormy here, on and off all month of July. The ebb and flow of LOTS of rain and thunder and dark skies. A hurricane passing by in the middle of the day. Roads flooding. Lighting flashing by. Thunder rolling.

But so is the season of life. There’s a rainbow after the rain......

We’ve been making what of it we may, we don’t let the rain spoil our summer. Yes, we have had to revise plans on occasion, but they were never completely ruined.

In between dancing around the rain drops and the lightning striking, we spend our days busy, sun kissed on the shore, by the sun. Walking, swimming, playing, boating, rehearsing for plays, eating ice cream, dancing to concerts, bumping into best friends on aquarium trips, catching the most amazing sunsets. Weekends spent splashing in the salty ocean. We make memories, we make life plans, we make laughter.

At night we stay safe inside our cozy, beautiful home where the summer sun rises and sets, seeping through every window that allows. Our home is full of life. Our home is full of love and laughter and I couldn’t ask for anything more.  Soon the sun will set on the last days of summer and we will long for these hot, lingering, carefree days once again.

Here is the place where my children can always come back and relive these days of the past. Right here is where their memories are kept. They might not remember it all. Maybe they'll remember the feel of the salty ocean water on their skin, or how it felt to jump off the swim platform for the first time everyday, anticipating hitting the cold water, sinking to the bottom, pushing off the sandy ocean floor with their feet and resurfacing.

But, what I hope they remember the most is how happy and loved we tried to make them feel. How we gave them a childhood of fond memories.

I hope they remember the feeling of  being unconditionally loved and cared for the most.

The Strength In Our Scars

Mental Health. Depression.  Anxiety.  I know I missed "Mental Health Day", but this is something that needs to be talked about more than just one day in October. This is something that needs awareness and education everyday. More than "40 seconds of action". Come on! I wanted to share this even more when recently I found out a beautiful young girl I know is suicidal. She reached out. She got help and her courage inspires me. What I would do to hold her tight and take her pain away. So let’s talk about it for a second. This has been sitting on my chest and weighing me down for far to long. Something no one likes to talk about. We ALL have mental health. We all have highs and we all have lows, some lower than others. It's something that needs to be normalized. The way a cold is simply just that, normal, everyone gets a cold. This is a far too sensitive subject. You have a cold? You take medicine. You have cancer? You get treatment. You break ...

Hello!

It’s been such a long time since I blogged. Since I wrote about what’s on my heart. So much has changed, yet so much has simply stayed the same.  I started writing this post last August 2024 - over a year ago now! But I obviously didn't get very far. Always drinking in the last drop of golden summer sun and air, enjoying all my kids home, distracted by life. A beautiful beautiful life! So here I am now, trying to get one post in before the year turns over to a new one again! We are 3 days away from Christmas, so we’ve been busy with the hustle and bustle. 2025 has been a good year.  Last August (2024) when I started this post-, I was probably dreaming of a baby to hold in my arms, as I have for many years before- well after many negative pregnant tests -February 2026 that dream will come true!! We are adding to the clan! So here I am in the third trimester. I really wanted to enjoy this pregnancy because it will definitely, most likely be my very last. It’s been a tough pregna...

Spring ahead

While I’m out and down with a spell of something that I’m hoping isn’t bronchitis or lead to pneumonia- negative for the flu, COVID and RSV at least, I figured I’d come try and write a little. I’ve been so weak and tired and out of sorts. I’ve read two books this week and started my third.  As spring turns over to summer. The temperatures rise. The rain falls. The grass grows tall. The bugs crawl from their hiding places. The people emerge from their homes, ready to fling open the windows and take in the spring breeze to cleanse the winter blues and dust from their homes. The kids are shooed outside to soak up the fresh air and sunshine. The radio plays our favorite songs. There’s the unmistakable sound of the hose being turned on. Shoes are abandoned in a chaotic pile near the front door and long forgotten. Barefoot running throug...
